Chokepoint Report

A weekly account of what moves through the world's maritime chokepoints — transit counts, direction of travel, sanctioned-vessel movements and AIS gaps, measured from live vessel tracking rather than published schedules.

Roughly a third of seaborne trade passes through a handful of straits and canals. We track vessels through fourteen of them and screen every one against the OFAC, EU, UN and UK sanctions lists. This is what that data shows, week by week.
